Howzit guys,

*EDIT* Agh, sorry but the misspelled title :/

I have had the good fortune of catching my own anthias. I currently have 5 in my tank which are all around 3cm (guess). I lost one to, im guessing, malnutrition as it thinner over time. I have intentionally tried to catch the larger anthias as i think they have a better chance of survival and can eat the bigger pieces of food. once again, my own observation.

However, these little guys eat a lot and i would like to know what everyone else's feeding schedule for their anthias. I am currently feeding up to 4/5x a day and i dont think my filtration can handle it. 2 of those meals are frozen Fish Eggs or Mysis from Ocean Nutrition and the rest i crumple and break up Ocean Nutrition flakes (i mix a few different "flavours").

Other fish in the tank is a caught Flame-Back Angel and i also have a Coral-Banded Shrimp i caught as well.

What do you think of my feeding?
Will they eat less the bigger they get?
& lastly, it is a known fact they loose the rich radiant orange once in a tank after being caught. you can see the difference of an anthias that as been in the tank for more than 3 days and one that has just been caught. Is there a way to get that color back?

PS: They are all lyretail anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis)

Thank you kind people

I recently added 5 females of the same species to my 150gal reef aquarium and they've all grown about 1 cm or so over the last month and have established their hierarchy.

My feeding schedule:
Around noon, I add a few pinches of Therma +A sinking pellets (mainly for my clownfish)
Only the largest Anthias even pays the pellets any attention
At the same time, I allow some frozen Cyclop-eeze to thaw into the tank for about 5 seconds. They love this stuff, as it appeals to their planktonivorous nature.

Some days, I f I feel generous, I add more Cyclop-eeze around 4-5pm while I feed my Maroons' anemone by hand.

At 8-9pm, before the aquarium lights dim, I melt one cube of frozen mysis and one cube of marine cuisine in an aquarium-water solution to which I have already added one last bit of Cyclop-eeze. I then dribble about 4 drops of Vita Chem marine formula onto each cube as they melt. Once they're melted, I stir to eliminate clumps and pour the contents slowly back into the tank over time. This is their primary "dinner".

The Vita Chem will help maintain all the fishes' color and the Anthias enjoy the mysis the most, then the marine cuisine secondarily. They pick on the remaining Cyclop-eeze floating around when the bigger pieces are all gone, but they are normally full and will stop eating before I have finished pouring all of the food into the tank.

I feed my anthias 3-4x a day, but I feed a lot. Their stomach are usually fat. I feed, pellets, flakes, nutramar and once in a while brine shrimp. I think they lose some coloration due to light intensity in our aquarium and lack of competition with other harem?

I have three Anthias. Female lyretail and Resplendant and male Huchtii. Tank is fed 3x a day sometimes 4.

2pm NLS pellets via auto feeder. (Darn things float but most fish including the Anthias pick them off)

5 and 8 or 5, 7, and 8:30 ish -- this is imprecise -- 1 cube of frozen which could be myesis, spirulina brine, bloodworms or cyclopeese.

The color on the Anthias is fantastic.
