Anthony Calfo in Indianapolis

I've recently spoken with an officer of the Indiana Marine Aquarium Society. They have opened up attendance of Anthony Calfo's upcoming visit on August 12th to all SEASL and SLASH members. As a non-member of INDMAS, you'll have to pay the non-member fee of $5.

If you've never met Anthony, you're in for a treat. He's quite knowledgeable, self-deprecating, and funny to-boot. It's not that far to drive and Inland Aquatics in Terre Haute is a great stopping point. If you want to leave early, Premium Aquatics in Indy is a great place to hang as well.

Here's the details.
Come one, Come all - the time is quickly approaching!!! Weeee! Anthony Calfo is coming to INDMAS!! August 12th, at 7 pm, in the Auditorium of the Lynhurst 7th and 8th Grade Center.

If you attended the April Fragswap/Raffle, then you will likely remember the location. The presentation will take place in the Auditorium, just past the cafeteria where the swap was held.

We will be raffling off a few of Anthony Calfo's books at the meeting, as well. If you haven't had an opportunity to see Anthony speak, then don't miss the meeting!

This event is free to INDMAS members, and $5 for non-members. I hope to see everyone there! It should be an informative and entertaining meeting!!! Don't forget to bring your questions!

Here is what the presentation will be about:
ABSTRACT:

" A Call to Farms! Spurring the hobby closer to self-sustaining commerce through more efficient propagation techniques. "

In this presentation we will examine improved techniques for new and advanced reef keepers to employ for optimizing efforts and resources in coral propagation endeavors. Regardless of impending legislature, or not, it is inevitable that empathetic admirer's of the sea will want to realize a self-sustaining (zero wild impact) industry of cultured coral. Let's all work together to achieve this dream sooner rather than later!

If you are interested, please post on this thread. I don't know the RSVP procedure yet but I'm working on it.

As a side note, The President of INDMAS is DensityMan, owner of (or slave to) Tim the Super Mantis. ;)

LOL!!! Scott's a very funny man. Real nice as well.

i wish i could go but there is no way... we should try to develop a relationship with our columbia (or other near by clubs) and have inter club meetings... perhaps the next frag swap we can plan it..
( and when i say "we" i actually mean becky) :)

Being a Cubs fan I would suggest that if this goes down you should all schedule the game for a St. Louis location. St. Louis has not won a game all season in Chicago (Cubs or WhiteSox)...I think this number may be wrong but i think that works out to 0-10 or 0-11 in Chi-town this season.

Had to smear that on the board as I felt a little St. Louis-Chicago rivalry stir there Shooter

Ah, a voice from the group of fans who have truly perfected the,

"Just wait til next year!" cheer

;)

I just talked with an officer of INDMAS again. She wanted me to let you know that if you wanted to visit Premium Aquatics, it closes at 3:00 on Saturdays. (If you've never been there, I highly recommend it so leave early). I can say the same thing about Inland Aquatics.

Additionally, INDMAS is a relatively newer reef club and is, therefore, smaller. If you ever wanted to have a more intimate Question and Answer session with someone like Anthony where he has the time to get into more detail, this is a good opportunity to do just that.

BTW, I've driven this trip MANY times. I have relatives and friends who live there. The trip is not as bad as it may seem.
