Anthony,
I'm afraid the problem is deeper than you think. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that copper has gotten into the silicone seals that keep your tank together, it's gotten into any plastic powerheads or other accessories.
That tank, and everything in it is no longer safe for use with inverts. It'll make a fine hospital tank, but never again should you try to make it a reef.
Copper, like Herpes, is forever my friend. You'll never get it to the point where that stuff is reef safe again.
I'm sorry.

I'm a bit concerned for Anthony, he hasn't responded here, and I get the feeling he's going to go ahead with using his copper treated tank, just replacing rock and sand........

He's a youngster, he'll learn the hard way

LOL The hardest thing to do is learn from other peoples' mistakes.
