Its getting out of control....anyone have a racoon butterfly in the Des moines area they would sell?? Does anti kill soft corals? Its next to some frogspawn but I have not seen any issues yet....

Just curious are you talking about aiptasia?

Joes Juice is supposed to work real good at getting rid of it. Also you can make a kalk paste and cover them with that too. If I remember right Adams in Des Moines is Carrying Joes Juice now. You can read about it here.

anti-pasta, lol. sounds like you are complaining about the olive garden or something

I bought a pair of peppermint shrimp, they worked great! I still have aiptasia here and there, but as soon as they get a little size to them they disappear. the pair are aiptasia eating machines! Only thing i dont care for is that I have never once seen them with the lights on, shy little buggers. they just hide behind the same rock all the time.

Quite honestly, you're just as well off making you own kalk paste, I have used Joes Juice, thats pretty much all it is, heck of a money maker.

As to the fish question, it is not a Raccoon you are after, what you need is a Copperband Butterfly, however, they are not an easy fish to keep and this would not be my first recommendation. If you only have a few aipstasia, going after them with kalk paste is your best bet. The only downside to this method, is that if any, and I mean any, tissue from them survives they will grow again. If you get at them early though, you should be able to keep them under control. Peppermint shrimp(Lysmata wurdemanni) will also work, provided you actually get peppermint shrimp and you have nothing in your tank that will go after them. I have seen local stores selling camel shrimp as the same thing, they are not.

Seriously though... Folllow Allen's advice and also try to lower your nutrient load as they thrive in over fed tanks.

How can you tell the difference between camel and pepper? I got a "pepper" the other day and it hasn't touched the "anti-pasta" (LOL) in my tank!

You may not ever see them actually eat the Aipstasia, they just disappear.

Check out Liveaquaria.com for some pics, they arent super difficult to tell apart, if you know what they are supposed to look like.

Peppermints are red bodied with light red markings. camels are red with red and white markings. blood red shrimp are a solid red with white dots.

try not to feed your peppermint, once he gets hungry the 'pasta' will start to disappear. or if you had a really bad case maybe he is only focusing on the ones in the back of the tank. my pair took out about 10 a night it seemed.

Peppermints worked with "antipasta" when they had nothing else to eat. Berghia...man I've been through over 6 and they seem to dissappear while the aiptasia continue to spread. I hear inverts will eat them so maybe you should make sure your tank is free of crabs or shrimp before you put them in.
