antique picture frames

Can anyone give me a clue about how to use an old frame I bought on fleabay?? I know this is not technically a "photography" question, but this still seemed like a good place to ask.

Here's my question: When you place the glass into the frame, then the photograph (which in this case is done on a 3/8" foam board) ... then what is used on the back side, to seal the whole thing?

I can't believe I cannot intuit a suitable solution!

Im sure there is a more technically correct way of doing it, but I would guess it would depend on if you planned to have the picture frame hanging or with one of those fold out "legs" to stand it up. But I have several antique pictures (in frames) that have either been handed down through the family or some that I purchased at antique stores that I liked, that were actually just a piece of heavy card stock or light card board type of material that was simply tapped to the back of the frame with more of a paper type packing tape. Like I said, I have acquired these frames from different places and have no idea if that is how they came originally, but it seems to have been a common practice and it has held together nicely for me. Hope that helped a bit. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out.
