Any 48" tall reef tanks out there?

I use dobie sponges. They don't scratch the acrylic. I cut the outside to fit my magnets and toss the sponge. They work great.

Can you give a link of where to find them?

1 1/4" acrylic would be good for that size tank. Just built one myself so your builder is correct. For daily cleaning - look at Aquamops by Kent IIRC, pretty much what Joey was mentioning. I love them, used them on my tanks, and recommend them to customers FWIW.
I'm not much into magnets, but the Magnavore 10 does hold through 1 1/4" material.

my aquarium is 96*43*48 and have (4) light units
each unit has (2) 400w 20k plus (2) 96w blue have no problems keeping sps corals and have clams on the sandbed. the tank is acrlic with steel stand and removal lights so if i need to get in it and do some swimming.

Can you share some pics of your tank? I'll bet its a jaw dropper!
Thanks for sharing the info on lights. I'm glad that I won't have to invest in 1000 watters.

My tank is not 48" but only 36" deep and it's still a pain to reach the bottom. But it does give you more aquascaping ideas that you can't do in a shallow tank. Also it gives more swimming room for the fish "above" the reef. I just recently moved the tank into the room that I built for it and am now setting it back up but with some different rock shapes.

Some recent pics of the tank and rocks can be found towards the bottom of this page.
