Any A.R.I.D. reactor users out there? It's an macro algae reactor made by Pax-Bellum LLC.
I wanted to see if there was any long term data out here regarding the reactor use such as:
Does it reduce Po4 substantially?
Did you eventually take your skimmer offline and keep it off?
Is the reactor your only means of nutrient removal?
Is the calcification of the light tube a PIA?
Is the overall piece of equipment of good build and trouble free?

I'm looking into the reactor for my FOWLR system, right now I use All-In-One Bio-pellets. While this works well to keep my No3 down, not so much for the Po4 but I do understand the Redfield ratio. My wanting for an alternative solution is because of cost. I'm consistently using up almost 500 ml every 30~45 days and at $75 per 1000 ml, it's getting costly.

TIA

I bought one for my tank, having some trouble because the cheato also removes boron and I had a purple slime algae, other than that it was working good. Tristan said to add 20 mule team borax to the water, it is a great source of boron. Will be starting it up again in a day or two. While I was using it I could see a change in my algae problem in the tank and happier fish. I am still learning, there is another post on this site with people doing better that I.

that what im looking into. im thinking about building it for my sps frag tank so i can keep the cost down and not worry bout skimmer.

Saw them at the CT FFM, and they looked really well made. If you are space constrained they probably work really well. I have an elevated sump in my basement fish room, so I light my chaeto fuge both form above and below.
