Any apex experts?

So I had the apex all configured and working over the net. Bought a few new modules and decided I should upgrade the firmware. Not sure what happened but now the display won't work, the status lights all blink yellow and I can't read it from the browser phone or flash program

Plug it in and hard wire the network connection. Start the firmware update. You will see the firmware program trying to connect to the to the apex. At this point unplug the power to the power strip wait 5 seconds and then plug it make sure you update the webpage by clicking the link in the firmware software. Good luck.

I'll try that tomorrow. Everything was hard wired to the router. Kept getting a socket error or an arp table error

I had the display shutdown completely after a firmware update. This is what I had to do to solve the issue. Honestly I like the Reefkeeper (digital aquatics) better the hardware is not as flaky as the Apex. I've had the Reefkeeper for many years never had an issue, very hardy system.

You will have to connect directly as previous post mentioned. And then power cycle the Apex unit and try to update again after plugging it back in. Pay close attention to the 5 second or so window. You might have to try multiple times.
BTW, was the Apex connected differently prior to the hardwire update? I usually see ARP errors due to some time of network change.

I had both the apex and laptop hardwired to the modem. Only change from when it was working till now was that it was plugged into a gaming adapter. Unplugged that for the update. Will try the power cycling again tonite. Was out if patience last nite. It almost got used as an artificial reef

Yup, that's what I thought. I had the same issue after the latest beta update for Fusion, I never had it before. If you were using a gaming adapter, and then switch to wire for the firmware update (which is required), then this issue will occur. Even if you were using a static IP for the apex, what happens is the gaming adapter(or your router) holds the ARP entry in a table, and when you try to push the update from the utility it's trying to route through the gaming adapter. The solution is to unplug the gaming adapter if its a standalone unit with its own power. Or perhaps reboot your router, to clear ARP table cache. If you look at the ARP error, it likely has the IP of the gaming adapter. That's because the last time an ARP broadcast was sent, the response came back through the gaming adapter.

Came home unplugged everything for about a half hour. Still getting dam arp entry error
Cycled power a few times and still not finding it

Yeah that's next. Even when hooked directly to laptop it keeps flashing between network connected and not connected on the computer screen

Well back up an running. Don't really know what he did but we figured out what went wrong. Seems my 60' cat 6 line for updates is shot. That's what froze it up. He played with a lot of dos and command prompt stuff and got me going. I just have to redo the port forwarding stuff to use the phone while away. But I figured that out all by meself once, figure I can do it again

I used a 3ft cat5 cable on a brand new Apex and the same thing happened. I really think the firmware update software is flaky or the circuit on the Apex is not up to snuff. Network burps shouldn't cause this type of issue. Seems like there are a lot of work arounds for this unit. Just My 2cents.

Yeah I think from now on it will just be straight from the laptop and bypass the whole router mess. Who knows. Fusion will be up and running soon and by then maybe they will figure out auto wireless updates. Kind of like your computer
