Frag it as close as you could from the point of RTN.

Mount them on something to prevent the spread of RTN or STN.
Nothing else you can do at this point, an iodine dip may help promote recovery.

Goodluck, sorry to hear about the loss.

I would frag about .5"to 1" above the rtn

agreed...

on a side note, perhaps maybe you should wait until you get ahold of the vendor? maybe they will want pics aside from this pic? i have no clue myself, jus a thought...

but fragging it is most definitely its best chance imho...

GL!

I 'd say your chances are actually pretty good.
Like the others have already said, Frag it ahead of the recession and you won't lose the whole thing.
I've saved frags from colonies that looked alot worse than that.

Personally id Frag it although if it keeps going I usually just leave them alone after that. My purple plasma rtn'd so I fragged it then it kept going so I left it. Out of a a4" piece I have 2 arms left which are growing and encrusting.

Best of luck.

I cant see them shipping it out like that, they are pretty straight up guys and maybe it is rtn from stress or temp swing and not aefw

that coral is definatly not worth your sytem if it has eggs or bugs. toss it take pics get your money back

did he say there were bugs or FWs on it? either way dip and cut and QT. Eggs will be on the base as far as I know and anything else will be toast after the dip.

Hehe people are so free to tell you to go ahead put it in your system. Free advise is easy when there is no risk.
Anyone that would put that coral in their tank must not think the value of their entire collection is worth more than the potential value of a single sick coral. Not a risk i would take with my collection and certainly not a risk i would advise anyone else to take.

I have to smile when i read someone say "I brought this coral back" I know over the years I have managed to place many stressed corals into good water and they have recovered. Many havent. But my ego was large and i knew that My water and My systems could bring seemingly doomed corals back. That was back before we knew about redbugs and AEFW. I learned about those diseases the hard way. Most of you that read this will either quit before it happens or find out the hard way as well. Do you really think that AEFW and red bugs are the only disease that can be passed from coral to coral? If you believe that your water and your skills are good enough to bring back corals and you insist on introducing stressed and damaged corals into your systems sooner or later you will introduce a coral that is hosting a pathogen of some sort and it will wipe out most of your collection. Do you wanna make that bet? If you dont ask yourself that every time you look at a piece and consider it for your collection you wont be ready when the dealer picks up all the chips.

Well just heard from the vendor they are gonna replace the coral and the owner is personally going to deleiver the new coral to my house on tuesday.
But the only thing that has me nervous is that i did put the coarl in my display hopeing it would come back. How long before i see any signs of pests and if so is there anything i can do to prevent this from happening.

Thanks for all the advice Jim..
