Any Chronic carbon users out there?

Well, it's not going to good thus far. I didn't know whether to contact the East Coast people or the West Coast people so I emailed both.
I didn't get a response yet from one and I got the following from the other one. I didn't check my emails until this morning and my ability to respond to click on the link in the email has expired. (There's apparently a time limit). I'll let you know once I hear from the other email.
I'm not going to bother trying to email again until Monday because I might time out again.

I have quite a bit of Black Diamond on hand right now so I don't need any at the moment. I've just seen MANY of these group buys of GAC go awry and I don't want to see St. Louis club members get ripped off.
I've seen many groups buy large amounts of pelletized carbon (which is vapor-phase/air-phase). Sure it's cheap, but it's also fairly worthless in a water-phase/liquid-phase application. I've also seen many group buys of anthracite....equally useless. I've seen.....yada, yada, yada.
I have had the great privilege of posting with Boomer on many forums over the years. (That's why I have so few RC posts). He's pretty much an expert when it comes to GAC and I've learned a lot from him. I'm a CPA and one of my clients was building an Import/Export business and an airport in Guyanna (South America). There was a dump next to his property which contained the waste product of Coconut processing. Since the product was free, he set up a Cocount-Carbon processing company. The combination of knowing Boomer for so long and the research I did for my client, resulted in me knowing quite a bit about Carbon. BTW....Coconut-Carbon is useless for us with the exception of filtering Chlorine in a RO/DI unit. Otherwise, I could get a huge shipment for free.

Indeed this info is interesting at best. How to utilize it to work in our RO/DI units is beyond me though.
I'd like to toss in my 2 cents. I've used many brands of carbon over time & I prefer to use the Black Diamond brand myself. I have done a small amount of research on carbon a long time ago. I also pick up @ a company that works with carbon and questioned some of the employees there about the different types of carbons out there and uses for them. I'm no expert nor do I have solid facts to help the issue here on this thread. I would however heed the advise offered by INWALL75. I try to keep in mind that if something sound just to good to be true...Then it most likely is. Putting some carbons into our tanks could do more harm than help to both invert's as well as the fish themselves, Remember that SW fish absorb the SW through there bodies and anything being added to the water could have bad results. Good luck and hopefully INWALL75 can receive some answers to his e-mails.
