Hi everyone,

What are your thoughts on this aquascape? 150 gallon SPS tank, 5'x2'x2' are the tank dimensions.

The right island is 12" high and the left one 10" high.

It's about 50 lbs for the left island and 35 lbs for the right island.

Going for the for minimalistic look.

Any criticism? Need more rock? Or do you like it?

Thanks,

Nick

I dont like symmetrical rockwork. My opinion would be to raise one side significantly over the other. Also will help with different coral lighting needs. Otherwise looks good

Thanks I was actually just thinking the same thing. Another arch piece or two of rock on the left pile to make it taller would make it look better.

I would agree, I dont like the look of the same shape in the same tank. looks to artificial IMO. I have a 150 also, and I have 3 main rock structures in mine. One is a tower with a few ledges jutting out at different heights, one is a tall arch way similar to what you have pictured, and the other is sort of an "X" shape. I planned on doing something a little more complicated in the shape of a "7", but the rock I had on hand wasn't cooperating with that.

I also have a couple loose pieces of rock in the tank so it doesn't look like a couple of distinguished rock pieces were just plopped in the tank. I can't figure out how to post pics anymore or I would. Probably took me a good 20 hours to drill and cement everything together, but very well worth the time and effort.

Don't forget, if you are adding sand that it will cover a portion of the bottom of the structures and they will look alot shorter. When in doubt, I like to make the a bit taller.

Will the tank only be viewed from the front?

I agree that it looks too arranged/man-made. I prefer a more natural looking stack.
