Any experience with Boernman's method of getting rid of redbugs from main tank?

I was going to treat my whole tank with interceptor until I read the article by Eric Boernman and how he says the best way is to isolate all acros to a qt tank and let it sit for 5 days. I prefer his method. But I am also scared of my corals browning out or even dieing from an unestablished qt. I will be using a 10 or 20 gallon tank. Just want to hear some experience with people getting rid of their red bugs with this method. Should I do constant water changes through out the 5 day? run a skimmer

On a side note, should I remove my slimers and millis during the treatment? Thanks

I have been told that the reg bug treatment is VERY easy to do and is not that big a deal at all. IMO I wouldnt even think of risking my corals by taking them out of the tank, and there is no way in hell I am going to break them off the rocks they are encrusted on. Chances are some RBs will be left on the portions of SPS left on the rocks anyway. I think the only really SURE way to get them all is to just treat the tank. Just get your hermits/shrimp out and put them in a QT for atleast a week (how long it takes for hitchhiking RBs to die when not hosted on SPS).

For the record, I noticed RBs on my SPS just today as well. A couple frags I got are infested. I plan on ordering some more carbon and doing my treatment very soon.

First off slimers and milli's are Acro's so yes they need to be treated.

I treated for Redbugs in a 10 QT tank. I thought I was doing close to Borneman's method, but I did a total of 3 treatments just to be sure. Other have done less treatments with success as well. With such a small tank, you have to make sure you keep up on the evaporation by either topping it of manually or with a float device. I ran my QT with a spare MH and PC's, but not everyone has "spares" like that to run. Yes, try and change out some of the water during the treatments to keep your parameters in check (CA, Alk, Mg). I did not run a skimmer, just a simple Biowheel with a carbon filter. Hope that helps a little.

I was scared of creating a disaster when I treated my whole tank for redbugs, but what an easy treatment. I pulled as many crabs as I could, and lost very few of the remaining. The treatment is so simple and effective, I see no reason to risk moving corals. There is little if any noticable effect on the tank as a whole. HTH

All 50 sps in my tanks are practically frags, so everything is encrusting on a little rock. If i nuke my tank with interceptor, can I get my refugium offline to save all the pods? or is it possible for red bugs to be hiding in there as well.

I guess im just scared of my qt tank crashing and killing all the corals

IMO it is silly(yes I said silly) to try to remove everything in an established tank with lots of sps. Dustins treatment, if followed to the T, works and is nothing to be afraid of.......period! I performed it over 2 years ago with no ill effects and I still have no signs of red bugs. FWIW this has been hashed over in this forum countless times and Borneman's methods have proven not to work as many times as Dustin's have proved to work(very close to 100%) from what I have read.
