Any experts on tiny tank critters?

I did a water change on a pico tank I'm building, and about 6 of these things came swimming out of the rocks and attached themselves to the sides. They are tiny with lots of long filament looking arms, and swim in a pulsing motion like jellyfish.

Never seen anything like it in my tank before, so I'd love an ID if you know what they are.

Fairly normal for a new tank. They aren't destructive and should die off on their own.

Great, thank you. The only experience I've had with hydroids before were the invasive rock-covering kind, so you had me worried.

I think these are the invasive rock ones. They are in free floating stage.

What I'd be more concerned about is what looks like a flatworm right above your hydroid. It's the thing that looks like the Star Trek emblem. Do you have more of those?

Yeah there were maybe three of them. It's only a 1.5g tank, so they don't have much room to hide. I may try treat for them if they get prolific, but for the time being wiping them off the glass is keeping me satisfied.

If you saw three you probably have quite a few more. I had them in my tank for awhile until I bought a wrasse that seems to have taken care of them. There may be some hiding, but if they are they're really good at it.

Thanks for the heads up. A wrasse won't be an option for me, but if it becomes an issue I can always try Flatworm Exit.

Those flatworms arent the kind to worry about.

They are not photosynthetic and dont cover corals.
They are predatory and will eat small pods, but that's it and they dont get big or overpopulate.

No idea about the hydroids.
