I just ordered a Harlequin Tusk for my tank, done a lot of reading on him, but wondering if anyone had any real world advice on keeping them? Putting him in my 90 with about 125 lbs of rock. Thanks much.
hard to find them smaller than 4", but I'd agree, the relatively smaller ones do better. also, I prefer the Australian HT over the Indo HT for brighter colors, but both are nice fish.
I just remembered this WWM article. I pretty much agree with the article:
No real specific questions, just wondering if there were any "don't do this" that might not show up in normal literature. Feeding seems to be pretty straightforward. Since this will not be a cheap fish, I figured I'd ask the question.
I bought one after being told it could hold it's own in an aggressive tank. Well they killed him. They are pretty passive despite looking like they could beat the snot out of everything in the tank. You are doing the best thing by asking on here. If I would have I would not have been out $80. Literature is great but first hand experience is priceless.
OOhhhh Yes, DON'T put a 7" HT in with a huge panther grouper, even if you don't think its even possible for the grouper to open his mouth that much. Sucked. Especially when later he tried eating my eels, freaked them out for weeks.
