i know clowns do not need to have an anemonie to be happy obviously my clowns are happy and healthy, but i have had anywhere from 1 to 3 RBTA's in my tank and its just kind of sad that they never even look at my RBTA. no they would rather host in frogspawn or a frilly mushroom or even in my large favia every once in a while. So i guess my question is has anyone convinced their clowns that there anemonies are da bom?maybe put a picture up or something?they have been in the take for more then a year and still nothing

I guess you could remove the corals they're using as hosts--from everything I've read, it's safer not to keep BTAs in mixed reefs anyway, because of their tendency to wander. With no other hosting options, the clowns might turn to the anemones.

Just move the corals(if possible) closer to the anemone so they can see the anemones.May get the idea to move out.

My clown didnt select a host for over 6 months, with a long tentacle available the whole time, and a couple months with a haddoni also, then she found a clump of featherdusters. After two months in the featherdusters she accidently chased some food into the longtentacle, and never left it.

I know this sounds strange, but my percula didn't host in my RBTA until I went out of town for a weekend (Clown didn't have food for 3 days). I don't know if this hunger invoked some sort of survival instinct to host in an anemone, but I came back and found the clown wiggling inside the RBTA.

I know it sounds cruel to not feed a fish for 3 days, but I'm sure they've gone longer in the wild without food. I'm by no means recommending this method, that's just how it worked for me.

Tape a picture of clowns hosting an anenome on the aquarium glass right by one of the anenomes. Try to find a pic that has the same species of clownfish...... Worked for me, maroon clown wanted nothing to do w/ my BTAs, taped up a pic, worked like a charm...
