with phone or iPad camera ?

Just can't justify spending $$$ for a proper camera and macro lens yet...:fish2:

Bought the one for a regular camera for under $2, shipping is $3.

I skipped the clip one for $30, figured that I won't be using it that much and a little tape will do...lol

If you do a search on RC, you will see in addition to using filter, another trick is to press the phone against the tank glass. I tested this and seems to work if you zoom in to the coral.

why the hell does orange knock down the blue though? Does that mean if you have any blue corals you won't see them as blue?

You will still see the blues just not as intense

Since you have Kessils, simply turning down the blue channel when taking photos helps a lot.

Good call Derrick...
Tried it and definitely an improvement with more white and less blue led.

A polarized lens will get rid of reflections. Sunglasses in front of a phone camera works 'good enough' a lot of the time.

I think blue and orange are complementary colors and the mute each other. At least thats what I seem to remember from high school art class :) Red & green and purple & yellow are also complementary colors.

Update...
The pic taken with the orange gel filter looks totally orange. Didn't get the result that I was looking for.

Guess I'll just stick to taking pics with less blue led.

I use these filters for my phone/tablet. https://smile.amazon.com/Rosco-Lux-Small-Swatchbook/dp/B0002ER2YG

Right size filters for phone/tablet and all the gel filter colors they make so you can find the right one for your spectrum of lighting. Also, filters ADD color back. Typically, underwater, reds do not penetrate the water so you add a red/orange filter to add that wavelength back to the image. The same with using a filter when shooting your tank with actinic on. I use filter "#316: Gallo Gold" from the swatch book.
