Any Idea what this is

Was altering my left hand side scape and come across it a very cool looking slug with a blue stripe all round it and white dots on the end of feelers having had a quick look it appears it's safe but would like a positive I'D on it i have let it go again though hopefully he not a nasty !!! It's taken over a year for it to pop up

And me letting him go and off he went

I like that guy so much I researched to see what its diet is. It feeds on sponges. I would not have enough to sustain one. Darn! That is a cool invert!

It does not have the whites stripe on it back to be one of them

I have loads of natural sponge growing on the rocks that could explain how it's survived all this time and looking healthy.

That also explains where a huge hitchiker white sponge vanished !!! That's now growing back so more food for him.

I suppose that would also eat chicken liver sponge as well

Thanks having not seen it ever in over the year the tank has been running it was out last night cruising across the sandbed I hope it starts to come out more now as it's an awesome looking critter.

They hide a lot. If it's out cruising, that's probably a sign that it's running out of food, unfortunately. On the bright side, that one probably eats more than one species of sponge, unlike most nudibranchs.

There is loads of sponge in there but I had just disturbed that whole left hand scape so that may of been the reason it was out I've not seen it since I hope it still finds plenty to nibble on as it's been fine for over a year

Googling that it does look just like the sponge I have all over the rocks on the underside I come across it all when breaking the scape down the rock was not pulled out of water so sponge will be fine so that would explain how it's still healthy even after all this time.

The sponge never seems to come out where it can be seen it's always under ledges and in the darker crevices so hopefully it will be happy in there for a long while to come

Yeah, that's where you usually find Dendrodoris nigra/fumata hiding. If he's the only one, he may live out his life happily in your tank (hopefully).
