This morning when I turned on the lights in my tank, I noticed that my shrimp, crabs, and fish all appeard to be paralized, and all of the corals were wide open, some more than I have ever seen. The fish were pale but that's typical when the lights are out. The only creature stirring was a harlequin star that was trying to pull a live cleaner shrimp into the live rock. All of the tube worms and feather dusters appear to be fine. I checked the sg, ammonia, nitrate, temperature and everything is fine. The only thing that has changed yesterday was the addition of a 5 zoa colonies, a large corky finger and a flowerpot coral. I turned of the power heads and the protein skimmer last night because the new coral was getting blown over, I planned to place them more securley today After the water tested fine my first thought is that the tank was defficiant in oxygen? Is it possible that the corals being WIDE open was because they were trying to get more oxygen? The fish had rapid gill movements. I have turned on all the powerheads and the skimmer. it's been about 30 minutes and and some of the fish are coming around but the shrimp and crabs are still lifeless (but alive) the corals have never lookerd better? Does anybody have a clue what might be happening?
