Cleaning off a piece of live rock from a tank tear down and we came upon this guy in a big mat of hair algae. About 4 to 5 inches long. We are guessing nudibranch but not sure what kind or reef safe
It's a mollusc-eating polyclad flatworm. You'll probably want to keep it out of your tank, unless you want to start a small species tank for it. You'd have to feed it snails or clams.
You nailed it. I wish I had the space and equipment to do that. An interesting thing happened while we had it in the bowl. It appeared to start sliming. But we then realized that the strands of slime were walking across the glass. even when the strands broke off from the main body, they continued to walk around independently for over an hour. I'm thinking it was probably its feed method like a starfish. It had us geeking out pretty hard for the night.
