I ordered a mag 7 pump to replace the crappy rio 2500 for it but are there any mods i can do? because right now it is skimming very "dry" and not producing very much skimmate. Hope the mag 7 will help.

-Thanks

seal the intake hole inside the skimmer with an electrical tape wrapped winecork. to get rid of a the second pump or a return feed line

Does anybody understand the electric tape and cork? I'm trying to get production up on my Berlin Classic Skimmer..... thanks

got a couple of mods for ya.

1. replace the output fittings with 3/4" thread x barb tees to prevent siphoning and keep the water level constant.

2. ensure the pump for the skimmer has a consistent water level. even a 1/4" fluctuation will cripple your skimmer.

3. remove the old airline and nipple it is connected to and replace with a 1/4 nipple and airline tubing with a valve on the end.

4. congratulations! you now have a berlin that can skim as wet or dry as you please.

I also have a 250 gal in-sump Red Sea Berlin Classic. How did those mods work? what would you suggest?

I heard plugging one of the white outflow tubes might help.

I filed away some of the opening on the Red Sea pump that came with it, opened up the intake for the pump, that helped for about a week.

Did you get a Kent Venturi?

thanks,

-G.
