Any NEGATIVE effects from [correctly] dosing amino acids?

Not much of a 'fix-in-a-bottle' guy but I've noticed lately that some of the colors in the tank are looking a bit...off. All parameters are within acceptable limits and there have been no changes in lighting or husbandry. A well known and highly respected aquarist recommended that I begin dosing a certain amino acid. Never used them before so I thought I'd ask: If I dose according to directions, can I do any damage to the inhabitants (SPS)?

We have had a few hobbyists who have experimented with amino acids in this forum. Dosing amino acids doesn't seem to help much.

Fish foods should produce all the amino acids needed for good coral growth.

Coral can produce most amino acids needed either in their own tissues or are produced by symbiotic organisms either in their tissues or mucal layer.

The worse case from dosing amino acids is they may end up used as a carbon source for bacteria in the tank, especially if dosed heavily. If your dissolved organics (including amino acids) rises above 1 ppm than negative results are begun to be seen in coral. Too bad we can't measure DOC in our tanks with hobby grade equipment. ;)

i've tried Amino Acids for about 6 weeks....noticed nothing.

extra feedings for my fish and also some coral frenzy and reef roids 1-2x's per week helped colors. Tanks was pretty sterile. Still is rather low nutrient system, just by nature. No GFO or pellets or zeo,.....etc

I dose 1/8tsp of each 2x's/week. Turn off return pump for 30-40 mins.
