any news about the EVG power bar?

Yep big news.

These will be ready very soon now, but more importantly -

We will get the pre release unit for North American of the AC dimmable power bar for testing in a couple of weeks, once we are satisfied the new conecpts of ballasts works well with this device we will be rolling out these out which will allow a user to dim T5HO Ballasts in any wattage. This is the first time that this has been available and GHL more than just leading the way.

The only slight thing is we have to make sure they are stable, no lamp flicker, in testing in germany they were stable, so now we move to North America and make sure under 60hz there is no difference

I assure you that no later than the end of May we will have the dimmable power bars

Couple more questions, and I hope they're not redundant as I haven't seen any news of this until this thread.

Do we have pricing yet? Even rough pricing (as in no cheaper then $300 canadian, or no more then $xxx US) would be helpful as I am looking at a few things right now and knowing the price range would really help me with a couple of decisions I need to make soon.

How many outlets on each power bar? When we say Dimmable, do you mean we will be able to dim any standard t5 ballast and what range of dimming (ie, 0-100% or 50-100%)? Will standard AC powerheads (ie Koralia) now be variable speed thanks to this bar?

Thanks

Hiya

Your mixing two products up here ;)

The Dimmable power bar -

Will control any devise that can work with raising and lowering the AC voltage. But the biggest benefit of this devise is the ability to control a certain type of T5HO ballast (not announcing what one until the powerbar has been approved). It will have I believe 4 sockets on it and be priced around $175.00 (approx)

The EVG power bar is totally different. This device allows plug and play control of 1-10V dimmable ballasts, basically the EVG card is situated inside the power bar so all you have to do is plug your ballast into it and run the 1-10V line from the ballast to the power bar and the other line onto the controller.

I hope to have these for les than $100.

Dimmable power bar will be here in two weeks

EVG is due out around June/July

That sounds awesome, so the dimmable then is being tested on a t5 ballast that is NOT currently dimmable? I guess what I'm fishing for is whether or not some people will be lucky and have these ballasts already or if everyone who wants this will be buying new ballasts? Sorry to hijack the evg thread.

Hiya

Think I am about to snap your fishing line.

You still need dimmable ballasts but the ones that will work with these are available in any wattage in 110V so you see that is the massive advantage, where as in the 1-10V range only 54w is available for 110V

Man, am so confused, lets say i have one T5 tube withe regular ballast, and i have profilux 2, what do i need to make it dimmable? ok i know i need a dimmable ballast, what else do i need?

Depends on the ballast

If 1-10V dimmable you need nothing else the features to control it are already built in

If AC dimmable you need the dimmable power bar

If Dali dimmable you need the Dali interface card
