Any news about the Nanostreams yet?

wow neat, I'll have to read into that. Will it help these pumps turn on and off? I'm guessing that's what it's for?

Softstart is a gimmic, it really doesn't work very well. The idea that slowly ramping up voltage would ease pump start depends on pump design and it just deosn't apply to our pumps, they start best with about 124V constant, they don't start below 102V and will spin backwards over 134V. I would just use long time intervals to minimize noise and start up wear.

The pricing is already firm

6025-$61.84
6045-$96.63
6055-$202.93

Pricing includes the magnet holder which will work on up to 1/2" glass.

I just completed the tests of the 115V versions yesterday and it was acceptable and production is supposed to start in 2 weeks so we should be on target for a release of the 6025 and 6045 for the end of September.

what are the flow rates on these ?

Do you know the dispersion angle on the 6055 vs. the 6000? I have a 92g corner tank. I was plannng on putting the Stream in the front left corner. My reef structure ia about 20" across with the furthest point being 30" away from the pump and the closest being about 14". Will either pump cover the reef or will I need two?

Question on the outlet dimensions on the Interzoo 2006 publication: How can the outlet bet 40/15mm? 15 seems a bit small, especially is I compare it to the 50/47 outlet of the 6000.

Your first question I cannot 100% accurately answer the test tanks were too small to get this info and my sample was a 6045, it flared out to an 18" flow after about 24" The 40/15mm is a misprint I would guess 40/37mm is the correct dimension.

Roger,

I have been watching this thread a lot lately and I appreciate the time you take to respond to questions. I do not like to ask questions until I have reviewed forums. Typically, someone else has received an answer to a question I was going to ask. But not in this case, so any help you could provide would be great. I have a few questions.

I have been patiently planning the equipment for a 92 Gallon Corner AGA tank I have purchased. It will eventually be a reef tank. I was thinking about the TS24 kit originally but now that these nanostreams are coming out I have second guessed that. I was wondering if the 6055's would be good enough for my tank. If so, how many would I use? I was thinking about starting with 2 at first on the 90 degree sides close to the front pointing toward the center of the bow of the tank. Then possibly graduating to 4. The graduated config would take the 2nd pair more towards the rear of the sides pointing towards each other making their turbulance in the center of the tank.

Is this too much for the nano streams? If not, is 4 of them too much? Should I do the TS24 Kit? What woul you recommend for flow and equipment? Sorry for the 20 questions but I am a newbie to aquariums and I want to at least try to do it as good as I can for a first timer.

I have a 92g Corner. The way my reef is set up it crests along the right side with the low point in the lower left corner. I plan on starting out with a single controller and a 6055. I am thinking I may need a second 6055 with a y-adapter if I cannot get a wide enough wave motion. Depending how that goes, I may go for a small nano for the lower right corner to get flow across the front.

My LFS has set up one with a 6000 and a single controller with the 6000 mounted on the overflow and coming out along the side. He says it really get the whole tank moving with a 30->100 program.

Appreciate the response "normd". The following link is my neighbor's tank http://www.thereeftank.com/totm/sep06.php It took five of us to get that sump in his basement. One slip and we could have really been hurt. I weighs about 600+ lbs. empty.

As you can see it would be difficult to get a realistic first time foot in the hobby with this beautiful setup across the street. He is using 3-Tunze 6200's for flow.

He actually has that 92G corner, a 90G regular and 12G Nano tank plumbed into the same system, making his overall water volume around 850Gallons. To do a water change all he does is turn a valve to empty and turn a valve to fill.

By 30-->100 program do you mean 30% to 100% variation?

What corals will you keep in the 92? Honestly 2 6000's would take up less total space and cost less than 4 6055 and use less energy. The flow is wider on the 6000's and slightly higher. I would not take more than 2 pumps, which one to choose depends largely on inhabitants.

I keep a some acropora (my favorite and would like to keep more) a brain, three huge torch corals, a pasture of clove polyps, a huge E. quadracolor, other polyp rocks and some softies. Right now I have a Mag 2 powerhead rotating via a Osci-wave, which the polups love, but I think is too much for the acropora. However the size is large and very obtrusive.

You are certainly right that one 6000 plus magnet is cheaper than two 6500's. I was hoping to get by with one 6055, but if the 6000 has a wider stream as you say, that would be more cost effeective than two 6055's. The reason I was looking at the nano's was strictly size. But if two nanos are larger in footprint than one 6000, I'll get a 6000.

If I get a 6000, can I mount it so the stream is 30 or 45 degrees off of perpindicular to the mounting plane using either tthe mounting bracket or the magnet?
