any octos suitable for a 2.5 gallon???

Got one in my 2 gal....lol

Got one in my 2 gal....lol

Check this tank out...my bubble gum maching tank.

Making a string of lights (LED's 2500 mcd to 8300 mcd wave length) to go around the top of the tank.

You can see the 2 blue moonlight LED's I slid down the air lift tube in a long 1/2" glass test tube from an old European heater.

There are 2 tanks in this...approx 1 gal in each section.

Both have undergravel filters run by the one center air lift.

LR is growing in the top with hermits and snails.
Gonna put some shrooms and soft corals in too.

It's a pgmy Octo

Forgot to say that it is a pigmy octo.

about 2.5 inches long

I trained it to eat out of my hand at night.
I put a frozen (tiny) fish in my hand and he climbs right on my hand to get to it....hasn't bitten me yet...lol

Thois was a freeloader!

I wnet down to Tampa Bay Saltwater (LR place) in Tampa, FL to pick up 50lbs of Lr and got some freeloaders in with the rock.

A blue damsel, a "Lawn Mower" Gobie, and the pigmy Octo.
It's from off the coaast of West FL. brown and light colored.

Real friendly.

I'll try and get a pick of him at night.

soory for butting in but i posted a post asking about a set up and a speicies which can be kept in a 10 gallon and i was told this was too small so who come golaf can kept one in a 2 gallon on a undergravel-got told cannot have these either.

I just went and looked at your other posts. Also I went to the original thread of this gumball tank here is the quote I pulled.

*I was gonna put my pigmy octo in there...he eats outa my hand now...in my 55 tank.

But i'm gonna have to give him a hermit or snail every couple of days....or a small crab.

He might be too messy for that size tank tho.*

That was the creater Gololf comments. I am not too certain if the exchange ever took place but if so prolly did not last all too long. You would have to do continuous h2o changes.

That being said, he are some basic reasons:
Octos can and will crawl/hide/live under an undergravel filter.
Undergravel filters in most cases do not do enough to filter an octo tank, beside giving them a place to always hide from you
Octos are very messy. Atleast 3 times as a fish their size
Alot of pygmy octos are misidentified and are actually large juv.
In the event of a power outage watch out for smaller tanks

Taking this into consideration, Colin was suggesting a 30 gal. Octos are basically species only, very few other inhabitants do not become food, or visa versa.

Hope this helps, there are several more reasons if you are still curious but this is a good start.
