So I have this cap. It was an orange cap with orange polyps and was living happily in our 12g until one day some other coral (don't remember if it was our frogspawn or birds nest growing onto the base) stung the crap out of it killing about 99% of it off. There were 5 lonely little polyps left on a skeleton about 1"x 1" so we figured we would keep it and see what happens. Since then we have upgraded into a 29 cube and the little sucker took off like no other. It has almost fully grown over the skeleton....but....it is now an orange cap with green polyps. Definitely NOT the orange ones it started with. Has anyone had any similar experiences or have a reason as to why the polyps would change color? I do not currently have a pic because I suck at photography but I will try to get one tomorrow.

It sounds cool. Corals color are based on the algae's that are inside the tissue and they react differently under different lights. The stress of the mishap and then the lighting change could have caused it.

A sunset cap would be sweet. LMK if you are going to frag a piece.

Yeah really. That is really cool if the colors hold. Definitely one of a kind. I'd suggest frag a piece soon as a backup and give it to your sister.

It would probably turn back to orange in my tank. Next time I am over there I can take a pic. Did you get your other light yet?

We did. It came in a couple days ago. We are doing our water change tonight and we're gonna change the light out too. They sent it in a huge box. Jules was going to try and take a pic with his new camera too. We'll see how that goes. If we can't get a good shot I'll have you come over.
