any pictures of DIY canopies?

I bought the wood to build a canopy but my dad doesn't think my idea will work. So i figured i would post here and see if anyone can post some pictures of diy canopies or build threads if they have one. So i can give him an idea or find a better idea.

Thank you!

Nick

Yeah i though it was pretty cool and easy to remove as you said. Only thing is now the back of the tank is facing the window so i'm hoping that light doesn't get through that bad...
Thanks aqua,
Nick wood work :)

I think i'm going to return it, It was 13 bucks and i could see right through it...
anyways So far i've seen some nice canopys but is there anyone else?

Boy, I wish I had better pics of it...but this is what I did for my 90 gallon. Set the front part on a hinge to make it easy to feed my fishies and had the lights set right in the top (ballast and all).

And please ignore the wiring mess in that last pic, that was right before I ripped a hole in the wall.

That's kinda how i was wanting so i could get in there for everyday needs but i also need a way to get in there and change the bulbs... I got one question for you what type of hinges did you use? do they show through the top?

Nice canopys,
cham,
you've got alittle of everything under there huh? T5/VHO/MH/LED ;)
J. Montgomery,
That's a cool idea having it flip open like that.

Here is mine. It is made of white acrylic with oak panel overlays attached. VHO actinic (46.5 in) and 3 250W MH. Both sides lift off completely for tank access and maint.

I like variety.

I've got all the fads covered, so when T5's or VHO's or LED or MH are the rage I am right there with them. :D

Here's mine. Not really a DIY, but bought two stands and flipped one upside down. makes quite a nice canopy and lots of room for just about any type of lighting.
