Any reason this Durso mod won't work?

I can't think of one, but just in case I thought I would ask.

155 gallon Bowfront, original owner had these silly foam and plastic "muffler contraptions on the down-tubes. I wanted to use Dursos, and the dual-rear overflows seemed to be perfect for them, until I went to plumb them, and they wouldn't fit in 1 1/4 PVC for 1" bulkhead (recommended PVC size for Dursos). So I "adjusted" the design, and these will fit fine (only had to buy 3/4"), I just want to make sure I am not missing some blindingly simple reason that will make them not work. Any reason the bottom one will not work as well as the top one (once I put the cap on the bottom one, and attach it to the standpipe, of course?)

Don't think he's proposing to use both at the same time on the same drain. Would be pointless.

It's funny because I had to look at the photo a few times because the two look essentially the same to me (other than the cap) so not really sure why there would be any question of one working but not the other? Which I suppose was the original point .... :lol:
