Any recommendations for reef installation service?

Hi everyone,

We are going to be moving to the far western suburbs in the next ~8 months and would like to upgrade our 125g reef aquarium in the process. Due to all the other things going on in our lives, we do not have the time to do it ourself and would prefer to just hire a service to take care of the installation for us. Does anyone have any recommendations for who to enlist?

Any suggestions and/or anecdotes would be much appreciated!
Nilla

I would check prices with Living Sea (depending on how far west they'll go), or give us more specifics on how far west so we can recommend an LFS in between maybe.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! We are heading to the St. Charles area, just to give a more precise location. I know Reef Plus (in North Aurora) and Sea Escapes (in St. Charles) are around there, but I don't have much experience with either. Thanks again!

Bob and Don of Sea Escapes can take care of you without a doubt. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them for years (since the 90's) and even when I took a break, they were always willing to answer questions about changes in the hobby even though I wasn't spending a penny yet. Just simply doing research to make sure this was something I in fact wanted to get back in to.

Great resource for you and anyone else looking for any help. Take a trip out and see the store and meet them. They have really put a lot more focus into corals as of late with a huge coral tank and they plan to have it interactive with the new offerings from Eco Tech. Pretty cool.

As for Steve at Reef Plus. He does not do his own service, but hires it out to a maintenance company. I am in the process of having a custom sump/fuge built and Steve was one that I contacted for an estimate along with Sea Escapes, Nano Sea Creations and a few other companies outside of our local area. Any large custom orders, my wife and I make a point to get several estimates, just as I did with my business. Anyway, I requested a quote from Steve on Sept. 15 and even made the trip to Aurora to design it with my wife so he knew exactly what we wanted. To date, I have still not received a quote from him.

Long story short, I will give Sea Escapes my money everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. They (Sea Escapes) were hired to build my custom sump/fuge for us to answer those that may be wondering. It should be done sometime next week. Pricing was also the best when material, warranty and design are considered.

Anyway, that's my .02 and welcome to the burbs.

I am new in the hobby and have made my way around to LFS's. I have to say Don has been the most friendly person to deal with. Great guy and when he found out I was knew to the game, took some time and explained a few things along with telling me if I ever have questions never hesitate to stop in or call.
