Any SC-65 or SC-150 users?

What are your opinions on them?

I'm planning on getting a 40br with a 29g sump. I've been looking at different skimmers like the RO nwb 110, BM Nac 3.5, and SWC 120. Then I saw the SC skimmers for super cheap and they seem to have great reviews so now I'm really considering going with that. Just want some opinions to help me decide.

Also, if I decide to get one, do you think I should get the 65 or the 150?

Get the 150. I have the sc65 on my 29g Biocube. Great match for my bio load but I think too small for yours. This skimmer blows away my old tunze 9002.

Get the 150 or now what they call the SCA 302 even though the lid says SC150. When you do an eBay search you won't find this under SC 150 but you will find it under SCA 302

definitely the 150. A few reviews say that they arrive broken after shipping, but those who get them defect free say they are great. I'm considering getting the 150 myself.

Thanks for the help. I also saw some reviews about broken parts but I think I'll take the risk.

Yeah, I was leaning towards the 150 but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't overkill.

Thanks so much for the heads up about the name change. Before I read your post I was looking for it and I was really confused. It looks like a slightly different model though. Is the original sold anymore? It's fine if it isn't cause the price is still the same but 180 seems so big for a 40br.

Depends on what you are stocking in your tank. Also, if you ever upgrade to a larger tank you may not have to buy a larger skimmer.

I wouldn't touch them IME. Horrible build quality and returned mine within a couple weeks.

Wow, that's really suprising cause I've been hearing great things about them. But I'll definately keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice.

I'm probably gonna have a fairly high bioload so I'm leaning toward the 150. And that's a good point about upgrading in the future. Thanks for the input.

There is two models SCA 302 and SCA 303 . The 302 / 180 model has the atman 2000 pump inside of the cone which can be taken apart for cleaning . The 303 / 150 model has the atman 2500 pump underneath the cone which can't be taken apart for cleaning. Yes the smaller pump is rated for more gallons , does not make sense , but that is what I found out . Then there is third model which is the SC 65 which has the atman 1100 pump .

Full disclosure I do have a Bubble King mini 160 and I bought this for a cheap back up if for some reason I ran into a problem with my BK160 . This is no comparison to the BK but for a $130 shipped , this is a tremendous value . Compare it to a SWC 160 or bubble magus nac7 . Those may be built better but double the price and all of them use the same atman pumps

Ok thanks, I understand now. I guess I should probably get the 180 if the other one can't be cleaned. And I agree, it's a great value which is the main reason I'm thinking of getting it. Thanks for the help
