Hey all...

I just started my new job last week and I'm almost spitting distance from the John Young / Sand Lake intersection. Anyone know of any shops I can kill my lunch hour at?

TIA

Luis

If you go to kirkman and down on The corner of Kirkman and I- Drive there is a shop. You have to turn right on I Drive go to the first stop light and make a left and then the first left turn into that shopping center. Then go straight towards Kirkman and there in the little stores up by the road. I dont remember the name of the store but its pretty nice.

Then a little farther down Kirkman a few miles there is a new store that just opened a few months ago and its real nice. Its on the left hand side of the road. I think there is a McDonalds and a Danottos Pizza right next to it. I dont know how to spell that. Buts its a nice shoping plaza, real nice area.

Saltwater reef was the name (can't remember the new name) is right on the corner of Kirkman and I drive. there is a sweet tomatoes restaurant, Michaels, office depot 0r max (I think) fun spot is on the other side of the road. it's facing kirkman.

I don't remember the name of it either, but It's in a little plaza that sits in front of the plaza with Office Max, closest to Kirkman. It's beside some sort of oriental resturant. Bunch nice of guys there.

Exotic abyss or something like that. Not worth wasting your lunch break on if you ask me. The prices are ridiculous, selection is bleh, and they're not very helpful... If you're willing to make the extra couple minute drive check out aquarium fanatics, its on the corner of kirkman and arnold palmer.

Yes it is exotic abyss. But the name on the shop outside it saltwater reef. was the old owners name. Store is nice. You guys are right on the money about it's location. From I4 just look for the tall Sheraton Hotel with the big ball on top. The store is just down I-drive form there. It is in little strip. there is a real estate school and an asian restaurant there. You have to enter the lot from Grand national Drive near fun spot. Thats behind the michaels. Good Luck.

hey ben,

Im working in south park circle right off of john young just before sand lake from 528.

I just stopped in the exotic abyss place. What I saw was in decent condition, though I couldnt agree with the nautili and wobbegong sharks but I have to admit they were friendly.

i checked out Aquarium fanatics - very nice. he is located in the plaza with fedex and washington mutual, look for the big star on the building. I had the run of the store and was able to talk to Ross. The display tank, i believe he said 300g, behind the counter had some very nice pieces in it!

the rest of the store looked awesome. i ended up with a couple fish, one for my RBTA i picked up later last night. Good prices on the fish i got. Didn't ask or look for coral prices - had to keep some money! The coral tanks had some nice stuff in them and he said selection was low, but still lots of stuff in the tanks!

they are about 20 minutes from this area, so it would be a long lunch break run!

Yes aquarium fanatics is my #1 store. And not just cause he is 2 minutes from my house either. I see ross 3-4 times a week.. Great guy to deal with. Everyone has gotta check it out sometime.

I visited aquarium fanatics yesterday. it wasnt bad...reminded me alot of ocean blue. some reasonably priced corals and such but the fish looked a little sickly. well, many of them did. I would say that they were on par with OB with a little lower score on the fish...
