Got a quick question in need of a quick answer. Our security specialist has noticed some local profiles being created on some reandom computers. When using SMS administration tools does it create a local profile on the machine you are loggining into?

Thanks in advance!

SMS? There are several acronyms for SMS. Which are you referring to? Depending on what it is, it can be a yes or no.

E.g.
Smart messaging system
System Management software
etc

Been a bit since I've fiddled with SMS (once bitten...), however I think it's possible that a local USER would be created. An actual profile and everything?

My thought is NO...

Hell, even a local user shouldn't be necessary. At least if the machines are domain members...

My 2c.

Sheeesh, if this isn't the understatement of the century!

I was pulling a 4.0 in college until my first upper-division IS class. The instructor thought it pertinent to load his exams with EVERY FREAKIN' ACRONYM EVER CREATED BY ANY TRI-LETTER-FETISHED-COMPUTER-NERD LIVING THIS SIDE OF THE MILKY WAY!

Uhhh, but oh well...I'm not bitter about it now, hehehe

Yeah tell me about it. The amount of acronyms they are using now (including same acronyms with different meanings) are unbelievable. I did a contract with the navy awhile back and they had a 700 page :eek1: book of acronyms (30% were the same acronyms, but different meanings). It is crazy!!! IT industry is going about the same route.

Haha, i hear ya. I had the same occurance happen back in my college days.
