any sps id(ers) out there?

Just curious as I have several small colonies/frags that I have no idea what they are that were either acquired via raffles or trades. I know its hard to ID sps without examining the coralites, and when you post in the sps forum chances are you won’t get too much help because of this, but if I could get someone here maybe to give me some thoughts that would be great. I figure someone has to have some of the things I have since they came from the general vicinity.

LMK and I’ll start posting some pics.

Thanks

Kool, thanks.

Well, here's the first one:

I got it from a guy named Joe down in stamford about 1 year ago as a frag. Grows super fast.

here it is 1 year ago as the frag:

The first is Acropora Formosa (Staghorn Acro). Do you have another shot of the second? I'm leaning toward A. Valida but can't see the polyp formation well enough.

THATS IT! That reminds me, are you gonna frag that ctreefer? I always loved Acropora formosa

They are the same coral. The second pic is the same coral 1 year ago.

Thanks I see that now. Without the polyp extension it looks different.

No problem, I have always been made fun of in school for stating the obivous....lol.... Always happy to help any way I can. :D

Saltyfishy, I have a frag that's growing. For some reason the frags grow slowly while the main colony just seems to grow like a weed. I'm sure I'll be fragging more soon(need to get some plugs from Fitch next time I make it to a meeting.

Jas, I got it from a guy named Joe (JJBamBam) who's no longer a member here. I traded my dual ballast 250 halide setup for about 14 frags that he had.

Here's another coral. I hope the image isn't too large:

Thanks everyone for the ID on the first one.

Well, just checked for sure. Looks like I got them. I have no idea how long I've had them as I haven't gotten a new coral in probably 4-5 months and those were monti's. I looked at that coral and can't even see them, but I noticed them on my purple monster. Can't believe I hadn't noticed them before.

Having not had to do this before, does anyone know where to get the meds to remove these guys?

:(

sorry, I guess it was just one more.

Anyways, any ID help would be greatly appreciated. And also any red bug killing help would be as well.

thanks everyone.
