i set up my tank a few years ago w/ 6 MJ1200's on a wave maker, which now only controls 3. i wish i would have started it w a few tunze streams. the longer i'm into sps the more i learn how important flow is. i have my MJ 1200's positioned well causing pretty good flow. i would upgrade but 1, my beautiful RBTA is settled, and if i change flow, it will definately move. it's in a perfect spot. 2, tunze streams are so expensive. just wondering how important it is, if at all, to use tunze streams as opposed to MJ1200's or something else. how many successfully keep sps without tunze streams?

Not over priced at all, very efficient.

It is not IMPORTANT to use Tunze's it is important to have good flow.
I use Tunze's because they give that but so do a number of methods.
So long as you are getting the flow it doesn't matter how you do it.

yeah u can get the flow w/ any PH, BUT only TUNZE streams disperse current only like they do. i wonder how much more beneficial it is to have a tunze spraying a widening current , as opposed to a MJ shooting out a stream.

they just push a TON of flow...more then anything i've seen w/ that small of a footprint

yeah they are small but they push a TON and have a nice soft flow. i have an old style turbelle in my 58gal and want to add the other one i have laying around. also the controls w/ the controllers are too cool. you can have them pulse. i wish i had the new fancy controller though :D

if i were to get 1 i would just add 1 to my 6 MJ1200's kinda flowing into them, suspecting it would put my RBTA on the move. the anenome is the ONLY reason i'm holding back, especially since it's settled in the PERFECT spot. they are pricey too, but what in this hobby isn't?

if i were to get 1 ......

If you do get one, then you will want another, and then the controller. :)

I sure don't mind the low power use.

My closed loop might have pushed the 1600 gph of my 6060, but it sure used a lot more than 11w.

Kept a successful Acropora tank for over a year without ... doesn't matter the source of the water flow, if you've got enough.

I have heard ~$400 on the vortechs. They look so cool though!

Here's the vortech thread. The beta pumps were only $250.
