Any sumpless SPS tanks?

i have been looking at this skimmer:

now I know its overkill, but I feel it would make a nice 18x18x18 (25 gallon) cube skimmer.

Any experience on HOB skimmers and SPS?

I run a HOB AquaC Remora powered by a MJ1200 on my 30gal and it works pretty well--I'm always looking to improve efficiency on it of course (but who isn't?), but I am satisfied (I wouldn't say ecstatic though). I keep all varieties of SPS, successfully, without a sump.

But holy friole, that skimmer you pulled up looks serious! I hear nothing but good about Reef Octopus and my personal motto in reefing is quickly becoming "you can never overskim a SPS tank."

I say jump on that thing if you have the space and cash!

I've heard a lot of good things about this skimmer. I have one of the SRO units from Coralvue and love it. If the HOB is anything like my in sump skimmer you will love it! They have great skimmers for price/performance factor.

How old is the tank?
and how do you maintain water level constant to maximize skimmer performance?
