Anybody else using a Kalk reactor?

I have a PM Kalk reactor in my auto-top off system. It works fine, but adding kalk is a PAIN !!!! Just wondering if I've been missing a nifty trick all this time.

The reactor has an easily removed access hole, yet since it is always full of water so adding any additional kalk causes it to over flow until I get the cap back on (and makes a mess). I started removing water first, but that requires either removing the whole top and dumping some, or if just adding a small amount removing some water with a baster through the access hole. Both options there are also a pain.

Now, someone tell me the trick of being able to quickly add kalk without it overflowing :) Maybe I'd even keep up with replenishing it as often as I should, LOL.

Post pick of problem... maybe post in equipt forum... their helpful there...

Welcome back scooter. Missed ya...

I only have the diy Ca reactor...

I have the Co2 bottle for a Ca reactor as soon as I need it, but nothing in the tank needing that much Ca that can't be provided by just the kalk alone yet.

Good idea on the pictures. Will have to do that :)

Connie and I should be at a meeting soon. Our summers are just hectic because that's when my girls are here, on top of really wanting to just stay at the lake :)

Ummm, better yet, if nobody knows off hand (and my leak is resolved) maybe I'll be close enough to host soon and everyone can just give ideas :)

I bought a fish innovations kalk reactor off ebay. Kind of a pain to remove the top but I love it. I use a 50' python for water changes. I usually suck out whatevers left of the kalk and pre mix kalk in r/o water. works good for me. Being on a float switch it will fill the rest of the way and I'm back up and running.
