Just curious to see if this happens very often or not.

I know there was a company that could send you atlantic LR shipped fully submerged in water. (Can't remember the name.) Otherwise, I think you can get some feather-duster worms on a rock from the altantic too.

Anybody have any info/pics on some cool altantic species that they have obtained in this manner?

I have only heard anecdotally from others about getting corals on the LR. There was one company that actually advertised that "benefit" with their LR, but now I can't recall their name (But I don't think they shipped out of hte Atlantic, but I could easily be mistaken). Most were anenomes, mushrooms and sponges though. But I do think I recall hearing about SPS. Best of luck with your search :)

I've got some Caribbean LPS that came in on LR from Tampa Bay Saltwater. Not seen any SPS, though...

Oh okay, that's the company I was trying to think of, thanks.

As did I.... a couple colonies Red LPS "cups" that have proven very simple to care for.... I looked them up, but don't have the info here... I was pleased with my purchase from TBS.

Speaking of such - look what I just found by chance in JohnL's (the head honcho:p) gallery. He said it was a hitchhiker on carribean LR.

Of course, I'm only posting this because I have no tank of my own at the moment. :D

That is one beautiful coral. Frags of something like that would be hard to come by.

I have had hidden cup coral, but my Tonga shrooms killed it:(
There is a small encrusting coral growing just above this chalice which came in as a hitchiker. It's sort of a dark purplish color.I have since moved the chalice,as it was stinging an acro pretty bad.I also cleared out a shell that my clam above the little coral was on,which has given it a bit more light. It's actually getting pretty now,and has little dots on it similar to the one in the above pic.

I HAVE 3 TBS TANKS, i have brain, cup , tube and star corals. all are doing well and the brains have grown quite a bit.yes, i did get 1 mantis which i caught and i have a wrasse that hitchhicked in inside a piece of rock. you can see pics of all the critters and corals on their web site.

Bomber has a few.

Bomber had a few, but they weren't collected legally. The best way to get Atlantic "SPS" is to become a dive boat operator under the cover of working for N.O.A.A., pretending to be the guy that "makes sure the coats get their money" and collect your own. Then for best results post pictures of them on here and get reported to several government agencies. Also pretending to have one or more doctorates will help with the collection process. You can then claim that because you work for N.O.A.A. you have a permit to keep protected corals in your home aquarium, while people who actually research them cannot obtain permits to keep them in their research facilities.

this is just one of many perks of being a dive boat operator. and to be fair he was conducting all sorts of valuable research such as counting heads before and after a diving excursion
