Anybody good at fixing lights?

I've got a Current USA Orbit PC fixture (96w x2 + 3 Moonlights) that I love but it seems that one of the ballasts has gone out in it. It's either that or the light switch went bad (which I doubt that's the problem).

It's a nice unit that's compact but there lies the problem, it's got proprietary parts.

Any body have any experience with these? Anyone good at testing to make sure that it is the ballast that's bad?

Right now I'm just running a cheapy 60w fixture and my corals are surprisingly happy. I want to do the tank justice though.

that should be really easy, its not really fixing its just replacing.

im sure i could do it. its the same one thats in there already. you could do it easily i bet.

did you check to see if your light bulbs have burned out? swapping lamps between the two ballast to see if they work? I had an issue with a t5 and could have sworn it was a ballast issue... but ended up swapping all my lights out. my light was only 8 months old, at oldest. I used to have CF lights and thought they seemed very delicate.

anyway, i know trouble shooting can be tedius. I just a thought i would throw my two cents in!

I can confirm that swapping out those ballasts is really easy. I had to swap a couple of them when I had my Orbit 6x96.

I can confirm that too. I swapped out two ballasts on jbrucken's old light that bought from him... :D

The wires are even held together by those twist cap things, it takes long to take it apart than to rewire it.

Al thats a piece of cake man just figure out if it is the ballast and if it is get another one and give me a call (hint hint thursdays are a good day im "USUALLY" off
i can have that done in no time
