Anybody have a colony of the Incredible Hulk acro? Pics Please

I received a frag of this back in March and it has done very well. My recent pic below is a month or so ago. The purple does not show up really well in the photo but it is there, the green is neon. My polyps seem to go in and out of pink to brownish, I wish the pink polyps would stay put. I recently re-aquascaped the entire tank and popped this guy up high in the back of the tank to see if more light but a little less direct would help or hurt. My piece is really starting to take off growth wise. This is one beautiful coral...designer name or not.

Here it was soon after I got it, side view as opposed to the top down view above. notice more purple, very little green.

slojmn, thanks for the pics!

The Original pic from the website is pretty impressive. But I still can't see any other frags around that show up this color.

This coral has been around for sometimes. Any more pics??

Here's my small colony. It has taken a beating from all the fragging. It is slowly recovering. Sorry about the bad pic. I need to get a new camera.

Hey Sang, Where do you keep it in the tank, up high, medium, or low?? I was thinking that I should possibly try it lower rather than higher...hmmmmm I wish I could get that sweet color of the picture above in the thread. I'm not giving up on it though, I just need to find the right spot. I am getting the new Maristar T-5/MH fixture when they finally come out later this year and I think that will make a difference for some of my corals, maybe this one :). We shall see.

Hi Alicia,
I keep it mid-level in a 20" tall tank (exactly 10" from the bottom). An interesting thing that I found out was that when I kept a frag of it real high, it started to turn a weird light green color all over the frag. I guess you could say it started turning into the hulk!

eastn, Nice piece. It looks likes yours is retaining more of the purple color. More like the original picture which appears to be more purplewith the green bleeding into from the tips. Mine is the opposite more green with the purple way down in the branches where less light is likely to be. Maybe Sang is on to something about placement. Where is yours placed in relation to lighting. I think I will try mine lower in the tank and see if the purple comes on a bit more.

Thanks for sharing the pics of this coral! After seeing a pic, my wife insisted we get a frag. I just ordered a piece from Rommel. I've had very good experiences with him in the past.

ITS LIKE WEED..I SWEAR...ATTACH A NAME TO IT AS A MARKETING PLOY TO MAKE IT LOOK SPECIAL AND SELL IT FOR MORE DOUGH TO SOMEONE WHO DOESNT REALLY CARE IF THEY ARE GETTING HUSTLED

i have seen that coral fragged up for 18 bucks per 1 inch frag and the guy selling it did not go attaching special names because it was no more special than any of his other peices

yeah that happens with about every soral out there thiese pieces like the Hulk are sold by people that make a living off selling to use then the cheap ones are from just hobbiest

yeah no kidding.

Good plan though - make up a name and start a quick thread on "who's got this coral" to start up the buzz...

hmmmm.... Anyone got a picture of their Fozzy Bear Montipora Digitata?

LOL...that is hillarious. I have one...and will sell frags for 40 to 100 bux depending on size...I also have brown monti digi for free...but don't confuse this with the fozzy digi

Lets get this thread back on track. I will start with sorry for my photography skills and my camera is junk.

I think Sang is onto something here. Maybe I should lower mine also. I started with it in the lower third of my tank and it had more purple in it.

Then I moved it up to the top and it lost all the purple but is still growing fine. There could be many other reasons for this but its worth a try.

Hi Dan,
That is the same coloration as my frag when I moved it up. It looks like this acro will change colors when it receives high light.

I have my frag about 20" from a Reeflux 10K 400 and it's green with a hint of the purple and the polyps are pinkish. It's getting pretty good flow according to the polyps. Mines pretty close to the original pic, just alot smaller lol...
