Im from jackson, everytime I would go back to see my parents, I would stop by there and pick up a few frags on the way back. Loved the selection, and I've got a ton from him in my tank.

I drove by this weekend and it was all closed up.

Anybody know what happened?

RIP reef down under =(

If you ask Craig the reason he's out of business is because of the club. If you ask me... [I wrote more but deleted it to maintain some dignity.]

Now that's a sure fire way to get your account terminated permanently here.

Thats going a little far Walker. I know he and you had bad blood but the stores failure is more due to poor business practice than attitude. Although the attitude tward his client base didn't help much. It was a shame when the store went under. I was really hopeful that he could have pulled it out from under the rock he burried it, but when you dig too deep without a ladder your stuck.

I would say that unless someone had access to his "books" and /or his mind , it is all speculation. Regardless, let's just say they decided to close, wish 'em luck and leave it at that. Everything else seems hateful and vindictive.

I dont know about the history of the above posts. I got along with Craig and liked his store. It is a shame that it closed, with Tropical Adventures in Lexington closing the reefers in that area dont have access to a local store at all. My personal opinion is that local fish stores have a hard time competing with online stores. There is no way they can match the dry goods prices and live stock selection of the large online businesses. In addition to that the online msg boards like this one and others allowing people from all over the country to communicate, buy, sell equipment / live stock along with the ability to have it delivered over night makes me think it would be very hard to deal with the overhead of a brick and morter store.

I for one am sad to see ANY local business close.

Dave, Scott. Both of you are right and I'm sorry I said it. I can't speak for someone else, only my own experiences. I hated it when Craig left and especially didn't like his reasoning in the PM he sent me explaining it. Still, I didn't wish him ill and felt bad when the store closed because he invested so very much in it, both personally and professionally. Hopefully he can try again sometime. Jackson needs more stores.

There is a store in union city that has fresh, and saltwater fish. I just found out today.I am planning on going saturday to check it out.I hate to see any fish/pet store go under.

Fishy Business, under new ownership, is supposed to open in Lexington in its' original location, but under new ownership. Opening date is Dec. 1, or at least that is what the sign says.
I have also heard rumors a new reef store may be opening here in Jackson behind the Great Outdoors Store. I also hated that Craig closed. It was so nice to have a store nearby that I could visit anytime I wanted, plus, he bought my frags!!

I apoligize that was a little out of line, yes there was bad blood between us but voiceing my feelings publicly was wrong. just couldnt resist though.

I have been in Fishy Business a couple of times and so far I am impressed. To only have been open a few days the selection WAS good. The reason I say was is that almost everything sold in the first few days. I did pick up a false perc though. The new owners name is Bruce.
