Anybody know what this macro is?

My lfs gave this to me to see if I can get it to grow but I can't figure out what it is, any ideas? It's very rigid feeling, and is maroonish brown in color.

That's Sarcodia montagneana belonging to the group of 'Sarcodiaceae' a type of red macro algae can be seen in red, dark purple or yellow greenish color. I had obtained 2 pcs. of small frags from a new shipment of LR from LFS just a week before. HTH

Sweet thanks! That's seems to be it, sure isn't a lot of info on this stuff though.

So you've only had it a week? How's yours doing?

The pieces of algae which I have are too tiny when compared with yours around 1" x 0.5" and are doing fine & new shoots start growing at the edges.
