Anybody use these for shipping corals?

From what I understand they change physical states at 71 degrees F and maintain a temperature between 68-75 degrees in the shipping package. People in the herp hobby (especially with dart frogs which fit those temps perfectly) seem to be using them with great success.

Now looking at liveaquaria, the optimal range of temperatures for corals is 72-78. So, would 68-75 be acceptable as a temporary range of temperatures for corals for a day or two in transit? If so, these might be a vast improvement over the standard heat/cold packs.

Here's a discussion on a dart frog forum where someone actually tested in various shipping conditions.

What yall think?

I think they could definitely be useful, and there is likely a phase change material out there that is even closer to being perfect for the job, slightly higher temps, but it may not be as easy to get...

I use those hot/cold freezer packs filled with gel, that and a lot of bubble wrap. Don't know about cost though, as I ship to myself (checking frags in luggage flying between Fl and NY).
