Anybody want some snails?

I have snails spawning and growing lke crazy in my tank. At night my tank is COVERED with them. They look like baby Astrials (sp) about the size of a pencil eraser, maybe a little larger. I've got a lot of them and don't want to just throw them away if anybody wants some. I need to put them in my QT tank so I can get to them any time. Currently they mainly come out after lights off in force.

Let me know if any of you want some. I could easily get rid of 2 or 3 dozen of them.

Yeah I could really use them. I spent the day out snailing and did not find one turbo yet I was finding Nas by the 1000s. I have a new tank with fresh sand and cannot support Nas snails since they live and eat from the sand.

Gandy bridge area sucks for snails I did catch a 8inch Blue Legged Crab for fun, released and watched him run away.

I think it must be the time of year, cause I went to look for some yesterday for my Daughters new tank and was sooooo surprised that I didn't find tons like I have in the past! Did find some redish/polka-dot starfish (not reef safe) a few sand sifting thin strip hermits and just (3) ghost shrimps (feeders) which is also odd to find so few??!!

My Cerith have spawned and I have a lot of babies too, but I would be interested in some tank raised Astrea. We could trade some babies.

Uhh... Maybe I should take a picture of one. I think they are Astrials or whatever but I'm no snailologist!!

I didn't realize you could breed astrea snails. What's the secret?

In my experience summer is the best time to get snails and stuff... the populations come and go with the amount of macro that grows. I've never caught any algae eating snails but small cerith and stomatellas. But, I've wanted to try snorkelling at the first mini-bridge on the other side of the skyway - it's a high flow area and I wonder if other things would grow there in all the rocks. But small sharks and porpoises hunt there and I'm a big woose.

LOL: Yeah I know what you mean, there is something scarry about swimming with something that can take a bite of you in low visibility water!! Let us know what you find (hopefully not what finds you! )

Well the shells of these snails sortof resemble a turbo shell but the shells have a sortof checkered pattern to them

Do a search for collinistas snails that is probably what they are, although I have heard of Tiger trocus successfully breeding in a reef tank.
