Anyone been into Global Aquatics?

I'm curious if this is open to the public and if so, have you been inside?

I just started taking my dog to the swimming facility next door and suddenly noticed the sign. I looked it up online, and saw some reviews but mostly for freshwater? I'm confused if this is open to the public and if they have also expanded to include saltwater.

So far I haven't had a chance to try and go in since I have the dog with me, but if it's worth it, then I might try and make arrangements so I can go in and have a look. I figured in the meantime I can ask if anyone has had experience in there.

Thanks in advance!

yea, i've been there. Their fish is usually pretty healthy there. pretty good prices too as far as fish goes. They have some coral but nothing "special". They usually aren't open to the public, but they have open house every saturday afternoon.

I go every couple of weeks and have never had an issue. You need to be aware that they do have dyed anemones and such every now and then.

I scored a $10 lta a few weeks back that is the size of a softball.

I haven't been there in a while. When I was there once, I was horrified at how they acclimate their anemone's. They take the bags, cut them open, dump them all on top of each other into a 5 gallon bucket, 20-30 or so, let a hose run full bore into the bucket to fill it up, dump, repeat, all of which takes a matter of minutes. No wonder the anemone's at LFS are in such bad shape! It starts at the "whole saler".

And, what they want to charge you, and the next guy can be worlds apart. I have seen some cool stuff there though.

Ive been there.they have good prices on CUC.fish are descently priced but ive heard good and bad reviews on them.

taylor t: thanks so much! I've been on the lookout for anemones and haven't seen any (or any nice ones around) for a long time. I would love to grab one before they dump them into their systems.

Skunk: Yes, I wanted to when I saw their sign but wasn't sure if I could just go in. I also had my dog with me and no one could watch him.....so I figured I would ask around here since the online reviews weren't very helpful.

Sounds like it would be worth it to try and get someone to watch my dog while I go in to have a look around. It's great that it is open to public on Saturday, since that is the day when I bring him to swim.

I know I'm taking this off topic, but I can't believe no one has commented on the fact that there is a swimming facility for dogs. I assume you're not taking the dog there for swimming lessons, so is it for some kind of physical therapy place, or is just a place to take dogs to play in the water? Is it indoors?

I was thinking the same thing. LOL. Do they really need lessons? I thought they can all swim.

Haha, yeah it sounds funny doesn't it? It's new to me too, a colleague told me about this place (she takes her shepherd) so I looked it up and decided to give it a try.

I have a 13 week old Dane that I wanted to bring there for 'assisted swim'. I don't think all dogs know how to swim, they probably know how to panic paddle is my guess. I wanted to expose him early and give him some exercise that won't stress his bones and joints since he has so much energy, and constantly running, falling, and hitting the ground.

Yet he whomever he shall be called fills Craigslist with adds guaranteeing the lowest prices around and more stock than any pet store...

Not knockin, just saying his ads aren't too hard to find.

They do not sell it to you at wholesale prices. But inverts are indeed cheap here. For fish, it is similar to liveaquaria.

they are open mon-wed. fri. and saturday till 6. they have specials on saturdays. clownfish pairs for $50, 50 cuc for $25 and things like that.

I've been going to global for a while. Very nice staff and a big selection of fresh & salt. Not as many of the more 'exotic' corals as I'd like to see, but tons of fish and inverts are definitely nicely priced.
