Anyone check their TDS ppm on their tap water?

Anyone check their TDS ppm on their tap water?

What kind of levels do you see from tap and what levels do you see when using RO/DI unit?

Just wondering how bad everyones tap water is....

my tap is usually 260 ppm. My ebay RODI unit I bought over 2 yrs ago still gets it down between 17 and 20 ppm

about 150-250 depending on time of year -

after RO I'm at about 5-10 depending on how clean my pre-filter cartriges are

after DI it's 0-1

when it's 2 I change the DI :p

My tap is off the meter. Let's just say it's over 1000

seriously? is it brown? Do you know what's in there? Most municipal water supplies are below 300pppm ..... If mine was over 1000ppm, I would be scared to use it for anything :eek1:

bkiba, looks like your DI resin is used up to me.

My tap is under 300ppm, after ro/di <2 ppm.

water here in Delaware smells like a swimming pool - after friends and co-workers come to my house and have a glass of water from my unit the majority of them have bought an RO unit - and they don't even have tanks

sorry for the hi-jack, now back to your regularly scheduled thread....

Mine is not that bad

Mine is 162 out of the tap and 3 out of the filter. Keep in mind that some filters, like my six stage, have a final carbon filter after the DI cartridge and holding tank. When the final carbon filter is new there are minute particles of carbon fines that raise the TDS. Just after a filter change my TDS drops to 20 ppm and then continues to fall toward zero. The carbon fines are harmless so if you really want to know how your filter is working regarding TDS you need to take a reading with water coming out of the DI. Also I always suspect readings of zero unless the TDS meter has been recently calibrated. If your TDS falls to about 2% of the tap TDS your filter is up to snuff.

if i could just remove the phosphates i'd have great tap water for my tank:

0 nitrate, nitrite, amm.
500 ca
15 dkh alk
1225 mag
8.5 ph
