hi, i'm looking to start culturing phyto, and was wondering if anyone in orlando already cultured some themselves, so i can buy some as a starter culture. would prefer to obtain Nanochloropsus, but really any type would do.

i've never done this before, just read a bunch about it, so any pointers would be appreciated.

thanks, lawrence

Awesome stuff...has 3 different types and has great info and hes right in Oak Hill....Just south of Edgewater....which is just south of New Smyrna Beach...call first as its real hard to see off US1 and they are not always there

You can buy starter cultures in petry dishes form Aquatic Eco. They have Nanochloropsis, Tetraselmis and Isochrysis for pretty cheap.

FloridaAquaFarms.com is where I get my supplies. I am going to order some this weekend. I am getting the Nanno as it is easiest to grow. I've grown it before. Make sure you have plenty of containers or a way to sterilze and reuse your containers. Make sure that if you plan to order Tetra or Iso, you read up on their requirements!!

thanks for the replies. i've ordered some stuff from florida aqua farms before, and was pleased. the more i think about it though, i don't know if i want to spend the time everyday messing with them. may as well just buy it from the LFS. the nutritional value should be the same, correct? thanks, lawrence
