Anyone else have a RBTA that hosts up on the glass?

I got two RBTA's from a fellow reefer up in Wonder Lake. One big one and one tiny one that he didn't even know was on the rock until he lifted it. The little one didn't take the move very well, although I had thought that he had taken some food at first, he just didn't make it. I think he was just too small to be transferred to another tank.

Pinky took a walk about and decided that he wanted to live next to the overflow.
I'm not terribly happy about him living next to the overflow, but it's not tugging at him or sucking him in, so I'm just going to leave him alone. He seems happy enough.

I don't know why he's living up there, but he hasn't moved around in a week and he's greedily accepting silverside pieces. He just grabs them up and shoves them in his mouth as quick as he can.

So far the clownfish haven't shown any interest in going into him. I guess I just have to keep being patient.

Does anyone else have an RBTA that hosts up at the top of the waterline on the glass. He actually spent a few days directly below the lights, but then moved over to where he currently is.

This is from when he first moved over there. His foot was pretty spread out. It has since become more compact and even looking.

He's bubbling some of his tentacles up pretty nicely.

There are anemones that will do that at times and we don't know why.
Sooner or later they always go to the rocks.
Stop feeding it and point a powerhead at it, not a huge flow but enough to make the tenticles blow around.
It will decide that living the "high life" is not to good and they will usually go lower.

Is it okay if I just leave him alone and let him live up by the top on the glass? I don't mind him there and he's already gone through one water change up there. I'd rather he be happy there than happy behind my rockwork.
It's really encouraging to me that he chows down on his silversides so fast. The second I offer them to him he grabs them and after a minute they're gone! I joke that I shouldn't have named him Pinky I should have named him Piggy.

Hi Sarah, I have never had one stay on the glass more then a few days, they always come down after a bit.
So just wait Piggy out. She will come down when she is ready.
Funny critters are'nt they!

I figured after the water change and the level of the water dropping halfway down his foot that he would figure out that he didn't want to live there. But no, after the water change he just opened all of his tentacles up like normal and stayed there.
It's probably been about 8 days that he's been up in that particular spot and it's been about 10 days that he's been up on the glass. He was further back and he walked around the overflow to that spot.
I guess I'll just keep feeding Piggy and wait to see if he moves again or not.
He looks happy enough.
I wish the clowns would figure out how to host in him already though. Poor clownfish have probably never seen an anemone, so it'll probably take a while.

Sarah, what kind of lighting do you have on the tank?
How many watts per gallon?

mine just moved to the glass in the bottom corner today...Chances are, he will be somewhere else tommorrow. I just wish he would pick a place and stay there.

Heh mine has been on the front glass for about 3 months now seems to like to there.

mine livedin my overflow box for nearly 2 months until i had to move the tank. then he let go the night i moved him, crawled over a sponge and breifly blocked my u-tube. enough to overflow the tank and kill my MH ballast. id say your damned if you move him and damned if you dont. i cant win with these guys.

I've got a 4x96 Custom Sea Life PC set up on a 100 gallon tank, so almost 4 watts per gallon. 2 actinics and 2 daylights. One of each bulb is about ready to be replaced as I've got them on a 6 month rotation. It's a three foot long set up and the tank is a four foot long tank. His first spot was directly under the lights, but we had the lighting rig up 12 inches away from the top because of an AC crisis for two days. When I moved the lighting rig down is when he moved over away from it to the left hand corner.
I have been considering putting a metal halide set up, but didn't think it was needed for my softies and my piggy. I've also got two hairy mushrooms, two small frogspawns, one medium chalice coral, two small tulip anenomes, and a bunch of zoas.

Good morning Sarah, sounds like enough light.
You can either remove him from the glass and put him in the rock (I don't recomend that) or leave him there and hope he moves.
I have never had one stay more then a few days up high like yours so not sure what to tell you from here. Just keep feeding him and hope for the best

I don't want to mess with him, especially considering that he's new to the tank. If I move him, he's probably going to just move somewhere else again, and maybe next time it won't be to such an easy spot to feed him at.
I don't personally care if he moves, it's not aesthetically bothersome to me him being up in the corner on the glass and all.
Today he's all scrunched up in his foot. I think he's pooping. I fed him on Saturday night so it's about that time.
