Here is the story:
I purchased a Gen-X 2400 from The Reef Stop. Without modding it, opening it or doing anything weird to it, I hooked it up to my skimmer and ran it for a few hours. I decided I liked my old pump better so I disconnected it, removed it from the sump and placed it on an issue of Time magazine to dry out.
Fast forward three weeks or so, somebody wants to buy the pump so I pick it up, place it in a grocery bag and give it to him. He tells me right when he plugged it in, the impeller self-destructed and spit out 7 or so impeller needles
I've had pumps work flawlessly after I abused them for years and have ran dry overnight. It really puzzles me that not only did this pump run for only a few hours, but it was never even opened or tortured.
