Well. I was out yesterday doing some laundry at the laundromat and taking care of someone's tank when they were away, and on my way home, it started looking like it was going to start to rain. I pulled up to get gas at the station near my house, but couldn't get any because they lost power for a minute and had to restart the systems... Crap... Hope that means I didn't lose power... When I got about 30 seconds from my house, it started raining a lot more and I started seeing a lot more debris and fallen trees on the road localized in that one area around my house. i came home to find this:
My step dad was in the living room at the time (the bottom floor of where you are looking) and said it started hailing and there was a HUGE amount of wind, and then this. Apparently, a mini-tornado came by and landed pretty much on my house. Branches from this tree are strewn about my yard, even on the other side of the house, and one hit and broke my step dad's side mirror on his car about 30-40 yards away. Somehow, there was nothing wrong structually with the roof. And no leaks.
Then at around 6, we lost power.... eff... I called CL&P, and they said it would be up in about 3 hours... At around 830, I decided it was probably about time to bust out the battery air pump. Went to job lot down the road to get some D batteries, only to find that the air pump no longer works. (Plunger must have had a hole in it...). So I went to dick's sporting goods and found one that came with a bucket lid, which might really help for when I move my fish tank back to school.
Got that running, and all seemed to be okay.
I had a green slimer and an undata that were growing out of the water (the slimer was growing out of it even when the drain and return pump were on...) that I had been squirting with water all evening. Come around 1030, I called again and they said it would be on by 1245. I just went to bed with all the lights on in my room so i would wake up if it turned back on and set an alarm for 1 so i would know if it didnt. Come 1, still nothing... I fell back asleep and woke up around 330. I went outside to take a pee (since I cant use the toilet) and saw two CL&P trucks passing. Decided to call again and they said it would be on by 6. Eff...
I figured I should put some paper towels over the exposed corals, as it would be asking a lot to make their slime keep them moist enough for that long and figured capilary action would keep the towel moist.
Well, around 415, everything turned on. All the fish are fine. Corals look fine, even those that were out of water. They look a bit lighter than they were (but were already too light cause I haven't fed enough...), but still alive. My skimmer went nuts and pulled out all the slime for a few minutes, but that too is working normally...
All seems to be well...
