Anyone else not in Nashville at the Frag Swap?

Right about now am thinking about how much fun everyone at the frag swap is having and wish I'd figured out a way to go, too.

Stayed home for my son's band audition. Hopefully he did well enough to make it worth missing the frag swap.

Had an almost emergency with my pump this morning and panicked a little realizing that if I couldn't get it fixed myself that most of the people I'd call to help me are all gone today. My return pump kicked off with the power hit we had last night and didn't kick back on. It was making a disturbing rattle sound, was REALLY hot and not pulling any water .... the temp in the tank was down to 75 from no circulation probably since around midnight last night.

I shut it off, let it cool for about 15 minutes and fortunately it cranked back up and all is okay.

Probably my warning to replace the pump, though. It's been running 3 1/2 years. What is the normal life span of a return pump? It's a MAG drive ... I would think longer than this, but an overheat like that may have hurt it.

Okay ... just rambling away here. Hope everyone in Nashville is having fun.

I was thinking about the group at the frag swap too . I did not get to go because of inventory at work ..it is Monday morning and my boss would have a serious heart complication if I had taken off to go out of town this weekend.
I hope your pump continues to work for you ..that would be a bad thing to loose with the support team out of town.
I bet those guys are having a ball ...oh well next year maybe it will be a weekend I can get away and I can go see what it is all about.

my mag 9 that i use for return wouldn't start up a couple months ago. i opened it up and saw that the ceramic shaft that the magnets ride on was broken. you might want to check that. it's an easy $20 fix if it's broken.

Thanks, too joeycadre. The pump is running okay for now, but it could have been really bad news. The pump hasn't been cleaned in a while and needs maintenance anyway. When I get it taken apart, if there is a problem with the ceramic shaft where do I get the replacement? Did you have to order the part?

I've only got a Mag 7 on that 55 gallon and its not really been enough. I've been thinking about upgrading anyway and realize by what happened today that its a good idea to have a backup pump around. I think I'm going to get a new one, then clean and service this one to keep around for emergencies.

At this point I feel lucky to have gotten a warning instead of a crash.

We were thinking of all you guys at home while we were enjoying the frag swap. Had a great time, sold a lot and bought a lot and still came home with money!! As for your pump, I had a mag in my sump that would not come back on in case of power outage unless I hit it with a hammer!! I try cleaning it, soaking in vinegar, etc. It seemed to work better for a while and then started acting up again. I keep that one as a backup and got a Gen X at Kermit's that I am really pleased with. I now have an inline heater on my closed loop, so no more cold tank if the return pump goes out.

well we made it back safely
I drove with Richard, Lisa and Roy but Lisa kept the boys in line.
We got a few things that are pretty nice.
I found a few Zoos and such.
I should have taken the Aqua Pimp Show on the road.
I didn't think about setting up a drygoods table.
Next year me and Mr. U-Haul will make the trip

Well I just got back at 7:30 and had a great time, however no one at the swap had a Green Toad Stool, I understand someone in the club has one that keeps dropping babys, (Cathy) and I sure would like to have one, I will pay just want one. !!! I had a blast at the swap, but we need to have one here, it is to far for me.
