Of the craigslist spam by the lfs? Awfully ghetto, boys. I urge everyone to flag all of their ads whether you are a customer of theirs or not.

Craigslist is a great tool if used properly. Unfortunately our lfs don't know how to play by the rules.

Ya CL has gone downhill. Prices have gone up since people realized their potential to sell things easily (which has pro's and cons). I agree, it has become really polluted with repostings and ad's for retail shops. There is no happy medium between cl and rc- each has its ups and downs. (traffic vs control). Ebay is just ridiculous with fee's (unless you need to get worldwide traffic in order to sell your item)

I think its the heat causing all this craziness with people! :D

I think everyone is trying to make it in this eco......... if only we know how hard it is to keep a business going now a day.

^^Agreed!
Having a free service available such as Craig's is a God Send to many businesses that cannot otherwise afford main stream media advertising which is crazy expensive.
Cannot understand why someone would want to FLAG their ads??! Why not help keep our LFS in business instead of trying to make it harder on them just because YOU may find it difficult to troll around on Craig's!

I hate them using the "key words" and them copy and paste 5 pages of related words makes it hard to search for things

I believe these lfs that posts, put their ad as "dealer". You can filter them out if you want to...Craigslist have that options for businesses, so I do not agree that they are breaking any rules...
ghetto, umm maybe a little :)

Yes, I hate it when I search for a aquarium and a bunch of car posting freaken shows up on my search!

True, but spamming crackgslist is not a way to be successful. It will ultimately hurt their businesses.

Disagree, you will be surprised on how much traffic craigslist brings in.
No lfs or businesses are going to admit to you that it does, but I know for a fact it does :) I don't see how it can hurt any business

You fail to understand craigslist's tos.

I see it consistently every few days. It's possible the ads have been flagged and removed before you see them.

Another favorite tos violation - spamming.

Meh,there's more to life then worrying about what another person is doing on a site that doesn't cost me anything or only effects me to the point I have to click the back button.

I've seen spamming, but not from any lfs, usually from individuals. I don't consider spamming if they repost something once or twice a month. Overposting the same ad every other day is annoying, but I haven't really seen that by any lfs.

Instead of spending your time trying to flag every one of them, you can search specific items your looking for and filter out the "dealer" postings. If your trolling to see whats out there, you will run into these annoying postings (by individuals or dealers).

Oh I don't work or affiliated with any lfs :D

Agreed.

I will admit to being annoyed by the keyword usage too, though. A select few keywords that are relevant to one's FS ad but didn't quite get worded in is a-OK. Selling a 10G aquarium and having every aquarium keyword known to man inserted into the bottom is frustrating though. It really defeats the purpose of the search function. With that said though, I don't believe I've ever seen that from a LFS or a "power seller" on CL.

Keyword usage is annoying at times, but not against the tos. Posting the same exact ad 6 times in 1 day in different categories, including the 'wanted' section, is against the tos however. That is what amazes me.

why are you so amaze that people, let alone lfs, don't follow the TOS?

we have rules and laws, but people break them all the time. how is this different?
